The Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) is Australia’s strategic high performance sport agency, and is responsible for leading the delivery of Australia’s international sporting success. The AIS provides high performance expertise, world-class facilities and cutting-edge sports science and sports medicine services to ensure that Australia’s high performance athletes have access to the right support in their pursuit of excellence.

AIS Sports Medicine provides evidence-based and innovative sports medicine support to Australian high performance athletes. The AIS aims to improve the practice of sports medicine by conducting world first, translatable research into medical issues affecting high-performance athletes. Current research topics include the role of balance tests in the assessment of concussion, genetic factors predisposing to bone and tendon overuse injuries and injection therapies used in treatment of acute musculoskeletal injury.
